Our latest installations include:
Project 1 – Domestic PV with Energy storage
Mr and Mrs Binns – 4KW PV system with 5.8KWh Energy Storage near Ross-On-Wye. 10 no. all-black PV Modules with solaX Hybrid Inverter and 5.8KWh Energy Storage system.
Brief – Install a PV and energy storage system that will reduce the customer’s grid consumption by around 75% and help reduce their carbon footprint. The Customer’s would also like us to help set them up with the best Export tariff for their situation.
Install – took place in cold early January! We installed 12 no. Tier 1 All- Black PV Modules to the South-facing Roof and fitted a 3.7KW Hybrid Inverter and 5.8KWh Battery in the garage. The customer has now vastly reduced grid consumption, as well as Energy bills, and has successfully reduced their carbon footprint, already saving some 1000KWh of electricity that they would otherwise have had to import from the Grid.
Project 2 – 50KW Commercial PV Installation
M5 Motor Homes/ energie Gym, Cheltenham. 138 no. Canadian solar PV Modules with 2 no. 25KW SolaX String Inverters
Brief – Commercial Project on specialist Curved roof. Find a fixing system that can safely fit the roof material and fit a system that can reduce the Energy consumption of the Motorhome workshop, and also the adjoining Gym, that has a high level of usage from the air conditioning system.
Install – This was a challenging project as the roof was a curved design and the frontage of the building was mainly made of glass. There are 2 businesses on site, a motor workshop and a busy gym that would still need to operate as normal during the installation.
That meant we had to use all our specialist experience and skills to find the right solution for the roof (Both structurally and aesthetically), and ensure suitable and safe access to the buildings for our operatives and members of the public. We also had to ensure minimum disruption to the busy motor workshop and users of the gym. Fortunately we have vast experience in managing more complex commercial projects so overcoming these challenges was no problem and we soon had suitable roof design and scaffolding and access solutions in place. Both businesses on the site could operate as usual , and the install was completed successfully both on the roof, and in the plant area where the three-phase inverters and control panel was fitted.
Project 3 – 30KW Agricultural PV Installation
Equestrian Centre, Monmouthshire. 138 no. Canadian solar PV Modules with solaX Inverters
Brief – The existing site had a small single-phase supply. The Owners planned a major expansion to include equestrian facilities, workshops, accommodation and revamped farmhouse.
It was our job to design a suitable three-phase supply for the new site, then liaise with the local DNO (Western Power) to ensure this was fitted within the timescales of the project, and help arrange metering and export contracts. Once it was confirmed the DNO could put this in place we designed a suitable PV system for the site that would sit on the new steel framed building, and would supply the site with 30KWp of Clean solar power.
Install- Cutter solar have 30 year’s experience in the Electrical Industry and are happy to take on big power projects that require technical design and liasaon with the local DNO.
Once Western Power had installed the Three-phase supply to the barn we installed a 30KWp PV system on a Fibre-Cement roof and have since been back to fit solar water heating devices to divert available excess solar power to the Water Cylinders used daily equestrian purposes.
Project 4 – Commercial/ Agricultural PV With Energy Storage – Near Hereford
Materials- 62 no. PV Modules and SolaX Hybrid inverters, 3 no. SolaX 5.8KWh Batteries.
Brief – We had previously Installed 2 x Commercial scale PV systems on this site, and the customer wanted to expand his renewable generation further, and add battery storage to capture the energy from all 3 systems in times of excess generation.
Install – Cutter Solar handled the whole application process with the local DNO, and gained permission for an additional 25KW of solar generation with 17.4KWh Battery storage.
Project 5 – Ground Mount System – South Herefordshire
Brief – Customer has a three-phase domestic supply and is looking to maximise PV Output to supply Ground source Heat pump.
Install – Having previously fitted a 4KW single-phase system on the customer’s house roof, we helped the customer undergo a major revamp of his energy system, including arranging a new 3-phase supply to the property (We carried out all the electrical work to facilitate this), supply for ground source heat pump, and provision for a back-up generator. We added a further 20KW of Solar PV generation, including this 10KW Ground-mounted solar array. We initially fitted 4 no. 5.8KWh batteries, but have since been back to fit 4 more … Giving a total of 46.4KWh of Energy storage!
Project 6 – Bournemouth Beach – Specialist Project
Project – Cutter Solar carry out specialist projects and can design systems to fit into any install environment. This project was on a pre-fabricated building, built in a factory in North Herefordshire. This is where we fitted the PV modules. They were special Metrotile inset modules.
We have worked successfully with Metrotile on various projects over the years. The unit was then transported to a beach in Dorset, where we connected the system to the local grid.
Project 7 – Mr and Mrs Clark. Givernegy ‘All in one’ AC-Coupled Energy Storage System
Brief – Mr and Mrs Clark had a 2KW PV system fitted over 10 years ago, and wanted to maximise its efficiency.
They also suffered from occasional powercuts , so wanted a system that could supply power in this event.
We recommended the Givenergy all in one, as it is AC-coupled, so wouldn’t affect their FIT arrangement,
had the large amount of storage they wanted, and could supply the property in the event of a powercut.
Install – The property has a large basement garage, which is also where the consumer unit is situated,
so we fitted the battery unit ‘Out of the way’ in there, and we have since been back to fit a Zappi EV charger.
